Joe Namath (he born May 31, 1943) is an American former football quarterback who played in the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons. Nicknamed "Broadway Joe", he spent the majority of his career with the New York Jets. Namath played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide, where he won the national championship as a senior, and was selected by the Jets first overall in the 1965 AFL draft.
